Dear colleagues and friends,

Please accept my sincere
CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE 80 YEARS ANNIVERSARY
OF THE PHYS-MATH DEPARTMENT
and FOR THE 50 YEARS ANNIVERSARY
OF THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT
OF TOMSK UNIVERSITY !

We all who have a chance to graduate from it will never forget our Alma Mater and the days of our youth. We always consider ourselves as belonging to the "Tomsk physics school" whatever we do .

When we have occasions to talk to people around, we see that this school is not simply known in various scientific centers in Russia or abroad but it is considered as one having the highest scientific standards and traditions. I was happy to see a review article on the present situation of Russian Universities in the German Journal of High Education. They consider the University of Tomsk and especially natural science departments as one of three best Universities in all republics of the former Soviet Union. Based on my professional experience I can confirm that our western colleagues unambiguously consider the Tomsk's school in high-resolution spectroscopy as one of two best schools in Russia and in Eastern Europe, and hopefully it will continue : just last year I had a chance to see 3 young spectroscopists, former students of TGU successfully defending their Ph.D. dissertations in Universities of Dijon, Paris and Reims. Of course these examples could be continued...

I am so sorry that I cannot celebrate this great event with you now but "dushoii ja s vami i segodnia ja vipiu za vas". Best wishes to all my friends and "odnokashniki", and good luck to young new generation!

Happy birthday to you , Alma Mater !!!
Meilleurs souhaites,
Udachti vam vsem !!!
